---- Planet #2701: The Wandering Planet ----
Believed to have been home to a force of powerful beings, this planet offers refuge to those that enter.
The green clouds that protect the planet seem to have made a path for your ship to pass.
Will the beings return? Are they there now?
---- Prelude: Engines Off
Set to rendezvous with another member in your squadron, you find yourself in the middle of a warp jump, when your center console's alarm comes to life, “Warning!… Collision Detected!”.
Immediately, your warp disengages as your ship comes to an abrupt stop.
How can this be? A planet.. out of nowhere?
Faster than you can begin to identify the planet, your ship experiences a violent jolt that is met with the sound of a distant laser. Am I under attack? You immediately check the ship for damages… Luckily, there are no reports of any damage penetrating the ships critical parts. The firing of more lasers miss as you begin to engage in evasive maneuvers to notice only a single ship in the area. The ship appears to have the markings of a space pirate.
Relying on instincts, and drawn to the planet, you plot an immediate course to the planet's surface to lose the attacker, not sure if your chances are better there or in space. Maybe the attacker will cease fire, but in case not, you begin to charge your weapons for a counter-attack.
[Lasers narrowly miss your ship as the attacker remains in pursuit]
As you get closer to the planet, the green, gaseous clouds that form a shield around it seem to make a path for your ship.
Glancing at your computer, environment scans shows the clouds to be toxic with trace amounts of cosmic dust. The ship's safety checks are not deterred by this environment, so you maintain course.
Once through the clouds, you can see that the planet has many large cavities and the green surface is white at the core.
From the surface, flashes of green light begin to appear in mass that seem to be targeting you.
Within moments, you lose control of the ship, and the engines start to power off completely. Have I been hacked?
Unexpectedly, you notice the firing of lasers from your attacker have also stopped, and their ship appears to be in a similar predicament as you, out of control, being pulled down by the planet. The surface of the planet that once appeared small now expands fully across your ship's main view…
With the gravity of the planet pulling you in, you begin to brace for impact…
